Instagram post 2173673649029216369_3177752049 Take 5 minutes and ponder the lyrics of this old tune.
When was the last time you looked up instead of around? I find that when I am paying attention to all the distractions or “being your best you”, I am completely missing the point of life.
I AM NOT THE POINT.

Neither are you.
Total contentment with life on Earth can only come by knowing who gave it to us in the first place. Relinquishing “control” of it to Him, surrendering our will to His, makes room for peace. The stuff of this world doesn’t last; the material things, the struggles, the joys... they’re all temporal. But Jesus? He is eternal. Seek Him. He is better than all of it.
Instagram post 2157595693089487555_3177752049 Amen. As a follower of Jesus, it is a constant challenge to remember whom I’m trying to please. It’s easy to try and speak in such a way as to make those around me happy with me. But am I to tickle their ears with pleasing words or am I to demonstrate love by speaking truth with grace? Jesus’ way of drawing people from their sin was speaking the truth in love. He said “go and sin no more” and “follow Me”. He never said we should hold on to our sin. He never ignored or justified it. He called and calls us to turn from it!
He called out the woman at the well, the rich young ruler, the tax collector; He said (not a quote but the gist) “leave your past behind you and follow Me to life everlasting!” Christians, we will be persecuted and tried for speaking truth. It’s a promise. But remember, this world is not our home. Therefore, be on guard and alert... “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ” -Colossians 2:8 “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.” -Colossians 3:23-24

Instagram post 2085799843552784705_3177752049 In my study this morning I was so encouraged by the reminder that God often uses affliction to draw us to Him. We’re (I am) so stinking stubborn in thinking I know the way, yet MY way often leads to destruction. Sometimes He lets me follow my way, and then? I fall on my face from the sin of pride or grieve painfully because of loss; sometimes of my own causing, others because I held my grip so tightly and God had to painfully pry my clenched fists open to remove what is toxic so that I look to Him for comfort, like a child who crawls up to her Daddy’s lap, crying out for reassurance that all is not lost.
God’s Word provides us with ALL we need to be assured that His way is TRUTH. HIS way is LIFE. His way is PEACE. So why do we resist the truth, life and peace we seek? Instead we see what He has put into place in LOVE as wrong. Or insufficient. Or foolish. He gave us life!

Following Jesus GIVES us life! Seek Him first. Above ALL else.
Jesus answered, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” -John 14:6

That’s His promise.
